I am happy = Let’s have a hamburger.
I am sad = I need ice cream.
I am tired = Where are the chips?
Do these sound familiar? Where do cravings come from? Most often, it is emotions. However, it does not have to be that way. As you learn to tune into your body, you can discover that your body is actually craving foods that will be beneficial.
Stop > Take a few deep breaths > Relax > Have a glass of water, and let your body tell you what it needs.
You may say “Sounds good, Robin, but it’s not that easy.” Well, that is true, and I’ve been there with you! I has not always been easy to keep off over 100 pounds lost, but I have learned to enjoy some different food combinations that help me through those cravings when healthy foods just won’t cut it. Here are some of my favorites:
· Almond milk vanilla yogurt with strawberries, blueberries, and a few almonds on top
· Fuji apple with peanut butter (smooth and all-natural peanut butter for me)
· Rice cakes with peanut butter and a drizzle of date syrup
· Fat free refried beans with vegan cheese and plain non-fat yogurt as sour cream (I use goat milk yogurt)
